My wife, Gay, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma on10 February 1989. That is a cancer of the bone marrow with no known cure. After many more test and chemotherapy, she was referred to the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics. After we gathered more information and joined together in a deep process of discernment, the decision was made that she would have the transplant. To be clear, the decision was hers.
This was not an easy decision. There were many aspects.
