Welcome to the Harry Hoyt Family Web Site. I am so glad you decided to visit and hope you will return often. The site offers many opportunities, and I anticipate there will be more in the future. Let’s take a look at what you can expect.

I’m Harry G Hoyt. I am also known as Dad and Grandpa. I built this web site primarily for the benefit of the members of my family. That family consists of my six children, 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. They populate eighteen families; 6 are families of my six children and twelve are families of my grandchildren. Here is what the family looked like at the family reunion held at my house in Davenport, Iowa on 16-19 June 2022. 

This is meant to be a personal web site primarily for my family, secondarily for close  friends. It is not meant for public access. I have not signed up with any search engine like Google to direct enquirers to our site.

I am close with my kids and grandchildren who live close to me. I am less well known by those who live hundreds of miles away. I would like this site to provide an opportunity for my family to get to know me better through what I have done, my photographs, what I have written, and a biographical profile. It can also be useful for members to get to know other members better.

Here is a summary of what to expect from the site.

I enjoy travel and photography and have written several pictorial journals of my travels and others documenting family events. I have made these available on the site, along with many other photos and personal thoughts and stories.

I wrote a book recounting my wife, Gay’s, bone marrow transplant that deserves a read. It is a firsthand description of our experience with the decision for her to undergo a procedure that we understood had never been done for Multi Myeloma at Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics and had a low probability of success. The alternative was death within two years.

I also wanted to know the thoughts of family members. There is a place for dialog.

There are seven editions of the Christmas letter, “The Hoyt Epistle,” available  Each one contains a wealth of memories through the photos and narratives describing each year’s events in the family.

I have reviewed the many digital photos I have taken of the members of each of the eighteen family within the Hoyt family starting with 2004. There is a folder for each family with photos that pertain to that family.

I would also like members of the family to get to know other members through photos, narratives and blogs on the site.

I have signed several documents on the site as Harry, including this one. Please understand that the name Harry includes the titles of Dad and Grandpa.
